Ichijo Ekan Villa (一条恵観山荘) in Kamakura was originally built in Kyoto about 370 years ago as an Emperor’s tea ceremony room. In 1959 it was relocated in Kamakura. Even the rock gardens and other features were faithfully recreated with using the same stones and materials. The building was selected as a nationally designated important intangible cultural property afterwards. It opened to the public only five years ago. I felt so welcomed by the beautiful autumn leaves and elegant ambiance when I visited it on November 18, 2021.
